Alex Goes to the 29er Worlds Championships

Oceanside CA, July 6, 2026 —  Dawn Lamb, president of the Oceanside Yacht Club Youth Foundation proudly announced a grant awarded to OYC’s junior sailor Alex Fisher to compete in the 2026 29er World Championships, held in Kiel Germany, July 2-9th.

The 29er World Championships are the annual international sailing regattas for the 29er high-performance youth skiff class, organized by the International 29er Class Association and recognized by World Sailing. It brings together top young sailors from over 30 nations for a week of competitive, high-speed racing on the ocean.

This year the United States was assigned 11 total berths, 5 of which were for all-girl teams. Alex and her crew, Chloe Goodman, from Long Beach Yacht Club were one of the five top placing female teams.

“We wish Alex all the best! This is an amazing opportunity for a junior sailor to race at a world-class level and to experience sailing and traveling in a new region,” said Dawn.

Alex said, “I am so proud to represent the United States and both Long Beach and Oceanside Yacht Clubs.”

Other funds were donated from the Sailing Foundation of New York and the Long Beach Yacht Club, with a special shout out to our own Staff Commodore Mark Mallaby.
