Oceanside Yacht Club Top Donors Name Boats

Oceanside, CA, May 26, 2020 — Naming a boat is almost as fun as buying a boat, and 16 OYC top donor members had the privilege of naming 10 new RS Teras and 6 FJ sailboats purchased for the Juniors by funds provided by the Oceanside Yacht Club and the Oceanside Yacht Club Youth Foundation.

In a fund raising campaign by the OYC and the OYCYF, that began in 2018 reached its goal August 31, 2019. At that time more than $40,000 was raised from generous donations to purchase the boats. The top ten donors were awarded the opportunity to name the boats. The boat names were then affixed by the steady hand of Chairman of the OYCYF and Jr. Director of the OYC, Ron Dryer along with Dewey Avina.

The following are the names of the boats: A Little Sky, Blythe Spirit, Cielo, Evelyn, Even Kiehl, Flyer, Haha, My Element, Pelle, Rascal, Rocket, Salty, Sea Imp, Sea Star, Sunshine, Windy,

“On behalf of the entire Board of Directors of the Oceanside Yacht Club Youth Foundation, we wish to thank each and every one of the donors who so generously gave the funds needed to purchase these boats. Not only did we have donations from the “top ten” but from many others who helped us reach our total goal,” Dryer said.

The OYCYF was founded in 2017 and is a 501(c)(3) organization. The goal is to financially support maritime activities that promote personal leadership, seamanship and a culture that empowers youth to develop their sailing.
