June 24, 2019, Oceanside, CA — Oceanside Yacht Club will hold it’s first Annual RS Tera Elizabeth Hospice Regatta, Saturday, July 27, 2019, in conjunction with the Elizabeth Hospice Regatta being held the following weekend. The races will be held inside the harbor and begin at noon. All participants will be racing in the recently acquired RS Tera boats. Eligible boats may enter by registering with www.RegattaNetwork.com before 20:00 on July 26, 2019. Oceanside Yacht Club members may reserve a club-owned RS Tera by contacting Fleet Captain Dan Avina (davina@hotmail.com) prior to July 20th. Boat reservations are on a first-come first- serve basis. The funds for the RS Tera boats were made possible through generous donations made to the Oceanside Yacht Club Youth Foundation, a 501 c (3) organization.
Ron Dreyer, OYC Junior Program Director, said, “We are very excited to be hosting this competition and look forward to all the other RS Tera sailors who will be racing. Nine other yacht clubs have been invited to compete. There will be a lot of activities for the kids.”
He added that he hopes that the OYC Juniors will be participating in the second RS Tera National’s at Dana Point in September. Last years participants included 31 boats from 11 yacht clubs.
Following the Junior Regatta, the 17th annual Elizabeth Hospice Regatta returns to Oceanside, Aug. 3-4 bringing sailors together for two days of competition in support of a local nonprofit organization. Sailboat racing begins on Saturday, Aug.3 with racer check-in at 9 a.m. and a skipper meeting at 9:30 a.m. A post -race party will be held from 3-10 p.m. on August 3 and 4 with food, cocktails, raffle, silent auction, awards and music. Admission to the parties are free of charge.
