New RS Tera Boats Delivered to Oceanside Yacht Club

Oceanside, CA, February 22, 2019 — Six brand new RS Tera boats arrived at the Oceanside Yacht Club Friday February 22, 2019.  On hand to unwrap and assemble the boats were Jr. Program Director, Ron Dreyer, OYCYF Chairman Michael Cobas, OYCYF Director Craig Tannahill, OYC members Darwin Southard and Bob Ray.

The RS Tera boats are replacing sabots that have been in use at the yacht club for the past 35 years.  OYCYF Chairman Michael Cobas said, “We are thrilled to have the first six boats, and only need four more by the end of August to reach our goal of ten!  The RS Tera boat was our top pick for the Jr.Learn to Sail program because the are virtually indestructible, low maintenance, versatile and give kids a real sense of freedom.

Vice Chairman, and Jr. Director Ron Dreyer reported that this summer’s Junior Learn to Sail program has many more kids than ever before and he thanked the Oceanside Yacht Club for giving the Foundation the seed money to get the Foundation started.  He also reported that a sailing program for High School students was started last year through an Oceanside charter school, and that the school will offer it again this year.

The OYCYF was founded in 2017 and is  a 501(c)(3) organization.  The goal is to financially support maritime activities that promote personal leadership, seamanship and a culture that empowers youth to develop their sailing skills.
