Oceanside, CA, August 19, 2022 – The OYC Youth Foundation (OYCYF), as a part of its mission to provide maritime activities for youth, sponsored a trip to the Marine Institute in Dana Point, Saturday, August 13.
The group traveled by bus and was comprised of Oceanside Yacht Club Juniors, parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors. Accompanying the group was OYCYF Director and OYC Jr. Director, Ron Dreyer and OYCYF Secretary, Linda Loftis. Lunch was provided.
OYCYF President Michael Cobas said, “They all had a fabulous time! And thanks to the super arrangements made by OYCYF Secretary Linda Loftis, the day was a smashing success! We were so fortunate that the OYCYF was able to fund and sponsor this maritime adventure.”
The day’s activities included: Fin-tastic artifacts, shark touch tank, squid dissection, walking in the tide pools, story time whale talk, sea star touch tank and the Maritime History Center.
The Ocean Institute, located in Dana Point, was founded in 1979, and is a community based nonprofit organization that educates 100,000 children, teachers, parents and visitors annually.
The OYCYF , a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, seeks to financially support youth maritime activities which promotes personal leadership, seamanship and development of the Corinthian spirit.
