OYCYF Awards Two Grants to Attend Catalina Island Camp

Oceanside, Ca, December 5, 2023 — Joe Bertocchini, President, OYC Youth Foundation (OYCYF), announced this week, that the OYCYF has selected two OYC Juniors grants to attend one week at the Catalina Island Camps the summer of 2024. The winners of the grants are Harper Schindler and Tiago Chapman. “We are excited to be able to provide these maritime adventures again for next summer. Harper and Tiago have demonstrated leadership skills in their sailing course and shown their corinthian spirit with team work, creativity, and communication,” Bertocchini said. “We believe Catalina Island Camps help kids become more aware of the outdoor and marine environment and help young people build skills for upcoming steps in their lives.” he added. Catalina Island Camps, founded in 1922 is located at Howland’s Landing, and is a highly acclaimed sleep away camp in a unique setting. Activities include swimming, skin diving, kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding, power boating and hiking.

The OYCYF is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2017 for the purpose of financially supporting youth sailing and maritime activities that promote leadership, seamanship and a culture that empowers youth to develop skills that last a lifetime.
